  • Toledo Bend Crappie

Got back yesterday from a couple day's fishing on T-Bend. My cousin was along on the trip and an old friend from my working days came and fished part of one day. Not the most productive trip but still not too bad. Caught 35 crappie, 2 keeper LMB, about a dozen yellow bass and 6 catfish. One photo shows the largest crappie, 15 1/2", and the other photo is part of the overall catch. Couldn't have asked for better weather. Crappie were caught on brush piles using minnows, jigs didn't work. Depth 20 to 26 ft. deep, crappie 15 to 20 ft. down. It looked like there were some crappie in the river channel but we had no luck there. Toledo Bend is now 5 ft. low and water temp. was 68. Minnows are still $12.00 a lb. in Hemphill.
